Corringham, Lincolnshire

Description
Corringham, a parish in Lincolnshire, which comprises the villages of Great and Little Corringham and the hamlets of Aisby, Dunstall, Somerby, and Yawthorpe. The parish is situated on the road from Gainsborough to Market Rasen, and is about 2 1/2 miles from Biyton station on the M.S. & L.R. It has a post and money order office under Gainsborough; telegraph office, Gainsborough. Acreage, 6366; population, 704. Somerby Hall is a large and ancient mansion, the seat of the Beckett family, standing in a park of 80 acres. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; net yearly value, £280 with residence. The church is an ancient building of stone, shows some Norman features, and has some interesting tombs and monuments. It was restored- in 1884 at a cost of £10,000. There are Primitive and Wesleyan Methodist chapels.
