Bracebridge

Description

Bracebridge, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire, on the river Witham, 2 miles S of Lincoln railway station. There is a post, money order, and telegraph office under Lincoln. Acreage of the civil parish, 1527 ; population, 2494; of the ecclesiastical, with Boultham, 3021. The living is a vicarage, annexed to Boultham, in the diocese of Lincoln; joint gross yearly value, £370 with residence. The church is an ancient Norman building of stone in mixed styles. It was restored and enlarged in 1874-75. There are also Wesleyan and Methodist Free Church chapels. The county lunatic asylum is in the neighbourhood. Brick and tile making are carried on.
