Description

Belmont, a village in Sharples township, and an ecclesiastical parish, Lancashire, 3 miles from Bromley Cross station on the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway. It has a post and money order office under Bolton; telegraph office, Eagley. Population of the ecclesiastical parish, 818. There are dyeing and bleach works. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Manchester; value, £130. The church is good.
