Abram, a township and an ecclesiastical parish in Wigan parish, Lancashire, on the Wigan Junction railway and Wigan and Leigh Canal, 3 1/2 miles SSE of Wigan, and 1 mile from Bickershaw and Abram station on the M.S. & L.R. The parish comprises the townships of Abram and Hindley Green, the village of Bickershaw, and the hamlets of Dover and. Bamfurlong. Post town, Wigan. Acreage, 1982; population, 4309. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Liverpool ; net value, .£200. The church was built in 1838, and is an edifice of brick, with accommodation for about 420.
