Description
Wolverton, a parish in Hants, 1 1/4 mile E of Kingsclere, and 5 N by W of Oakley station on the L. & S.W.R. It has a post office under Basingstoke; money order and telegraph office, Kingsclere. Acreage, 1453; population of the civil parish, 157; of the ecclesiastical, with Ewhurst, 212. Wolverton Park is the chief residence. The Duke of Wellington is lord of the manor. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester; gross value, £280 with residence. Patron, the Duke of Wellington. The church is a cruciform building of red brick in the Classic style, and has been restored.
