Description
Winchfield, a parish, with a village, in Hants, on the Basingstoke Canal, having a station on the L. & S.W.R., 40 miles from London, and 9 E by N of Basingstoke. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office. Acreage, 1582; population, 466. There is a parish council consisting of five members. Winchfield House is the seat of the Beauclerk family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester; net value, £250. The church, which is in the Norman and Early English styles, is in good condition, with a massive square tower.
