Description
Quarley, a parish in Hants, 6 miles W by S of And over, and 3 from Grateley station on the L. & S.W.R. Post town, Andover; money order office, Amport; telegraph office, Grateley railway station. Acreage, 1691; population, 148. The property belongs to the Marquis of Winchester. Qnarley Hill commands a very extensive and cliarming view, and is crowned with an irregular, four-ditched, ancient camp, measuring 210, 240, and 290 paces along three sides. There are also tumuli and other antiquities. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester; net value, £180 with residence. Patron, St Katharine's Hospital, London. The church is very ancient, and was restored in 1882.
