Hannington, a parish in Hants, on the Roman road from Andover, 2 1/2 miles SSE of Kingsclere, and 4 NNWof Oakley station on the L. & S.W.R. It has a post office under Basingstoke; money order and telegraph office, Kingsclere. Acreage, 2045; population, 279. There is a barrow on Cottington Hill. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester; net value, £260 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is ancient, with a steeple, and was restored in 1856. There is a Methodist chapel.
