Caundle Bishop or Bishops Caundle, a parish in Dorsetshire, 5 miles SE by E of Milborne Port railway station, and 5 SE of Sherborne. It includes Caundle Wake tithing and Bishopsdown hamlet, and has a post and money order office of the name of Bishops Caundle under Sherborne; telegraph office, Stalbridge. Acreage, 956; population of the civil parish, 272 ; of the ecclesiastical, 325. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Salisbury; gross value, £210. The church is old, and has a tower.

Parish Church
The church (dedication unknown) is an edifice in the Perpendicular style, with an Early English chancel, and consists of chancel, nave of three bays, aisle, and an embattled western tower with pinnacles, containing a clock and 4 bells: the church has 150 sittings.

The register dates from the year 1570.
