Wormhill, Derbyshire

Description
Wormhill, a village, a township, and a parish in Derbyshire, near Miller's Dale station on the M.R., and 2 1/2 miles SW of Tideswell, with a post office under Buxton; money order office, Tideswell; telegraph office, Miller's Dale. Acreage, 4654; population, 1357. There is a parish council consisting of six members. The scenery is romantic, and Chee Tor, half a mile distant, is reckoned one of the wonders of the Peak. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £300 with residence. The church, restored in 1864, is in the Decorated Gothic style, and consists of chancel, nave, and western tower. Another church was built in 1886 at the upper end of the parish, where there are large quarrying and lime-burning works.
